2022 Reflections: My First Year in Business

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. I can definitely say that 2022 has been the best year for me so far, because it has been the year that I was able to start up my own pet portrait business! I was commissioned 20+ portraits which is a good start. I’ve just loved every moment of this journey, particularly the fact I learn a lot as I go along. Here are a few bullet points to describe my experience..

The best things I’ve experienced:

  • Meeting new people

  • How my art gives joy to people

  • Being able to paint a lot

The challenges I’ve discovered:

  • Getting my head around marketing

  • Learning to paint quicker whilst maintaining high quality results

  • Having the confidence to reach out to promoters

This year I plan to continue the pet portraits with plans to expand eventually. I’ve challenged myself to reach out to potential promoters and network more.
